Relay for Life 2013

This Spring both colleges held their annual Relay for Life events, raising money for the American Cancer Society.  Lots of student organizations and faculty members participate in these events, including fraternities and sororities.  The Clarkson event was March 29-30 and the SUNY Potsdam event was April 5-6.

Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around the track. Relay events are up to 24 hours in length and, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.  You can read more about the event at the Relay for Life website.

Based on the online information (actual totals may be higher) at the SUNY Potsdam event, 63 teams and 846 participants raised $51,701.  Two fraternities and and seven sororities collectively raised $10,514, with DK and Sinfonia leading the pack for the Greeks.  DK raised the most money of any organization participating in the event with brother Scott Lewis raising $1,238, the most money for an individual.  Complete team totals here.

At the Clarkson event, 55 teams and 711 participants raised $37,676 (online info, actual totals may be higher).  12 fraternities and 5 sororities (the 4 CU sororities plus Omega Delta Phi) participated and raised $16,163 with TEP and KDChi and Phi Kap leading the pack.  TEP raised the second most of any participating organization.  Complete team totals here.

Here are some team photos from the event.  Have more photos to share?  Please email them to me!
